Birth Support

This is your birth.

Whether you have clear goals or you’re planning to take it one step at a time, we’re here to support you from beginning to end.

Welcome!

If you are currently in labor at Salem Health and have insurance coverage through OHP, the On-Call Doula Program was created for you!

We’ll bill OHP directly- there’s no cost to you for support.

But what exactly is doula support?

A doula is continuous support during birth - and that includes every kind of birth.

How does a doula support you?

Your doula anticipates what’s coming next and suggests comfort measures that are in line with your birth goals.

Your doula helps the other people on your team to support you well.

Your doula reminds you what your options are.

Your doula assists with positions during all stages of labor.

Your doula reminds your partner to eat and drink so they can continue to provide the best support for you.

what won’t your doula do?

Your doula will not push you to make any specific decisions for your birth.

Your doula will not take the place of your partner.

Your doula will not judge you for the decisions you make.

steps for support:

  1. Contact us to confirm our availability at (503)452-4000

2. Provide your name used for your OHP insurance, date of birth, and email address over the phone.

3. Fill out the intake form that will be emailed to you after your phone call.

4. Be fully supported during the rest of your birth.

5. Choose to have in-home postpartum visits with your doula in the next month.

We look forward to supporting you!

“Although the popularly desired outcome is ‘healthy parent, healthy baby,’ I think there is room in that equation for ‘happy, non-traumatized, empowered and elated parent and baby.’”
